Dark Mage is the headline Mythic of Villain Invasion. Its kit revolves around two forms — an Ice form for control and a Lightning form that drops a damaging field. After evolution it sits at the top of the Update 0.5 tier list as the strongest overall carry.

• Ice form — freeze / frost control. Useful for keeping waves in place while your field does work.
• Lightning form— a lightning field that deals roughly 50% of its stat per second. This is the core of the unit: most of Dark Mage’s value comes from keeping Lightning form active.

The key play pattern is form uptime — manage your casts so Lightning form stays on the field as much as possible. Treat any downtime as lost damage.

• Trait: Unbound — the best all-round carry trait for a unit this central to your team.
• Gear: Shinigami Sword + Magic Book. Lean into magic-damage scaling; pair with the new Crow event gear if you have strong rolls.
• Stat priority:Damage > SPA > Range.

• Keep Lightning form active — uptime is the whole build.
• Position so the lightning field covers the longest stretch of the path.
• Worth investing Trait Crystals and gear into, since it anchors the rest of your team.
