Upgrade
Upgrade raises a unit's level and base output using XP food and materials. It is the first layer of building a unit — do it before investing in Traits, Stats, and Equipment.

Overview
Upgrading a unit costs XP food (and some materials) and raises its level, increasing base damage and output. It is the cheapest, lowest-risk layer — always worth doing on a unit you plan to use, even before you commit to evolution or rerolls.
XP food
- Cursed Boba / Red Flower / Frown Fruit / Delicious Pie — standard XP food, sold in the Gold Shop (some also drop in Story).
- Bunny Candy — high-value XP food earned from Raids.
💡 Order of operations
Upgrade first to raise base output, then Evolve to unlock the passive, then tune Equipment, Stats, and Traits. The multipliers from those layers compound on a higher base level.
